Witnessed by a Doctor as a disease-free city!
In the Middle East, during the era of prophet Muhammad Sallallahu alaihiwasallam, a doctor came to the city of Madinah from Syria. With the permission of Rasoolullah [Sal], he opened his clinic in the city of Madinah.
The doctor offered to treat the poor free of charge. He stayed in Madinah for some time. But the Muslims hardly went to him for treatment. He was surprised and puzzled. Being a foreigner and a Christian, he felt that perhaps the people did not trust him. He put his complaint to the Nabi [Sal].
Nabi [Sal] assured him that what he thought was wrong. The Muslims of Madinah were in good health. There was no need to go to a doctor.
“How is that possible?” the doctor asked.
Nabi [Sal] replied,” Muslims are not allowed to eat unclean, harmful foods. They are required to eat good, nutritious, and healthy foods. They eat only when they are really hungry. When they eat, they do not overeat, but stop eating before their hunger is fully satisfied.”
The doctor agreed that these were such simple rules for staying healthy. There was no need for him in such a place. He, therefore, left Madinah to go elsewhere.
